Progress with works on the T-Building in Rijeka

The main and central library in Rijeka is expected to move into the building next spring, with an area of ​​5,800 m2 on a gross floor area. During the execution of the deep foundation (JET GROUTING), deformations and cracks on the existing structural elements increased due to the very old existing load-bearing structure and soft load-bearing floors. For this reason, the project was changed in such a way that a bar support structure was made to ensure the stability of the existing facility during construction. A new load-bearing reinforced concrete structure will be constructed inside the building, and the old external load-bearing walls will be anchored in the new load-bearing structure and will no longer have a load-bearing function, but only a facade function. Inside the building, CHS pipes will be used for the load-bearing structure (steel columns). The CHS pipes will be hidden in the cavity of 84 existing original cast iron columns, so it will look as if we have never moved the cast iron columns from their original micro location.
