Opening of the renovated National Gallery

27. Jan 2016
The National Gallery in Ljubljana has finally been renovated.

For the first time, all three building parts of the Gallery are connected in one piece - the oldest and now completely renovated National Hall from 1896, Ravnikar's New Wing from 1993 and the glass Entrance Hall from 2001. There is also a new permanent collection on display, which has been increased in number by more than a third of the works - from now on it contains almost 600 exhibits.

With the renovation, the National Gallery meets high standards for the presentation of art material, and with a new café by Robba Fountain in the Entrance Hall and a gallery shop selling books and design products, including the latest Kofetarica’s cup, it is becoming one of the most pleasant centres of city life.

With the renovation of the palace of the National Hall, carried out by the company VG5, the uniformity of all three buildings and the entire three-part complex of the National Gallery was achieved. The result of the modernization of all rooms in the monument-protected historic palace is a modern museum that will meet high standards for the presentation of art material.
