The Velenje Gallery is located in the centre of the city, in a modernist building, which was in 1971 confidently placed by the architect Adi Miklavc (1937 - 2002) next to the main buildings of the city centre on Tito Square.
The gallery was renovated in 2015 by VG5.
With the opening in a new design it will host an important overview exhibition entitled Visual Art in the the Savinja and Šalek Valley from 1975 to 2015. A comprehensive exhibition of visual art at the Velenje Gallery, the central institution for the field of visual art, will be an opportunity to gain insight into the creativity of a large field, which will cover a forty-year cross-section and create the beginning for thematic reviews in the coming years.
